How to use--------- These are the function buttons in PostPet : (1) "Write mail" button When you wish to type a new mail, click it and a "Write mail" window will appear. Enter the email address of your friend, and type the message into this window. If you did not finish typing the mail, it will be kept in Out-box. Click "Attach files" button if you would like to attach a file to your mail. (2) "In-box" button This is the box where the received mail is kept. The drawers on the menu bar are folders that can be used to store your incoming mails. Clearing your In-box will reduce the time needed to open your in-box folder. To put your mail into the drawers, click the mail and drag it to the drawer. It will disappear from your In-box window and appear in your drawer window when you open your drawer. To delete the mail, drag the mail to the black goat. The tiny icons at the left of the mail list is to indicate if the mail is read or not, if it is sent by pet or by postman, as well as to show the priority of the mail. (3) "Out-box" button Mails sent to your friends are kept in the Out-box. Double click the mail in list, to open the mail. This is useful when you want to send the mail again. You can use the "drawers" and goat in the same way as in (2) in your Out-box. (4) "Check Mail" button Click it to connect to your mail server to check for new mail. (You can use this to bring your pet back to its house.) -----4. Test----- If you send the pet with the wrong set-up, your pet will be lost in cyberspace. So test your PostPet first with the Postman option to check if the settings are correct. (1) Sending mails (Send a test mail to yourself) Click the "Write mail" button. Input your own E-mail address in the "To:" field. Write a test mail in the text box, and click "Call postman". (The Postman is a posting robot who delivers your mail.) The "Mail sent" message is shown if the mail is sent out successfully. (If "Mail sent" is not shown, check SMTP server setting. When your guest's pet goes out of your pet's house, the same message is shown.) (2) Receiving mails (Receive your test mail) Wait for a few minutes and click the "Check Mail" button. The scenery outside the window in your pet's room becomes rainbow-coloured. If you receive your test mail, then your settings are successful. (If you could not receive it, recheck POP account settings, your username and password. Everytime you change any settings, always reboot your computer so the settings can be effected.) (3) Asking your pet to send mail. Now you are ready to ask your pet to send mail. Write another mail, and click "Call pet" button. Your pet will take the mail and deliver it personally. See it off and wait for its return. (4) Receiving your mail and pet back. Don't be nervous, just click "Check Mail" button. When your pet comes back, you have succeeded! When you send your mail to a PostPet user, your pet will carry your mail to your friend's house. Hope it doesn't do naughty things there! -----5. Some more important information----- (1) Use postman too The postman does the same function as conventional mail softwares. NOTE : Please be sure to use the Postman : 1) when you send to mailing lists, 2) when you send a mail to a non-PostPet user, 3) or, when you send an important business mail. If you send your pet to them, the size of your mail might increase, and your pet is received as an attachment file. (2) Pet Your pet can send the mail to only one person each time, so please use the "Call Pet" function on other Postpet users only. Pets cannot send mails to more than one person at each time, including those listed in the "Cc:" field. Also, your pet cannot send attached files. Your pet will not come back until your friend receives your mail. When your friend receives your mail or when your pet cannot stand it any more (12 to 24 hours later, usually) it will come back. While your pet is away, you can use the postman to send your mails. If you are wondering if your pet has returned, click on the check mail button. NOTE : When your pet is received by non-Postpet mailing softwares, your pet will be "trapped" in that software. However, your pet will be revived about 12 hours later. So don't worry and just remember to send your pet to PostPet users only. (3) Your pet writes a mail itself Your pet can send a mail to you and your friend by itself. When something happened to your pet --such as death, or running away--- PostPet may send the data of the pet and e-mail address to certain addresses in PostPetPark. (Text of the mail and password are not sent) (4) List of Friends If your friends send you their PostPet, their names and address will be recorded automatically in the "List of Friends". But this is not effective for mails by postman and other software. To type mail to someone on the "List of Friends", open the "List of Friends", and double click the friend's name. A 'Write Mail' window will open. You can now type a mail to the friend. You can also add your friends to the "List of Friends" manually by by clicking New Friend and typing in their names. To add a friend whose mail is in the in-box, just click the "New friend" button next to your friend's name in the mail in your In-box.
